The State Agricultural Polytechnic Kupang held its 4th National Seminar with the theme "Food Security and Availability in Archipelagic Dry Land Agricultural Areas during the Covid-19 Pandemic". The activity which took place on December 7th, 2021 at the Kristal Hotel presented keynote speakers both from within and outside the country including Assoc. Prof. Robyn Alders (Australian National University, Australia), Prof. IndrawatiOey (University of Otago, New Zealand), Dr. Bayu Krisnamurthi (Wamen of Trade 2011-2014, President Commissioner of PT. RNI 2021), Melinda Moata, PhD (State Agricultural Polytechnic of Kupang) and thematic speakers who are researchers from various universities in Indonesia.
The National Seminar was carried out in a blended manner, namely online and offline which was officially opened by the Director of Politani Kupang, Ir. Thomas Lapenangga, MS. In his remarks, the Director explained that the current pandemic situation is a concern of academics, especially in the field of food availability and safety. So far, Politani Kupang has conducted research on food safety and efforts have been made to educate farmers to maximize and utilize food yields during the pandemic.
On that occasion, awards were also given to 9 Kupang Politani lecturers who have national journal publications accredited by the Ministry of Education and Technology (SINTA), 8 Kupang Politani lecturers who received the Reputable Indexed International Journal Publication (Scopus) award, 2 Kupang Politani lecturers with Intellectual Property in the form of Patents and 1 lecturer at Politani Kupang Intellectual Property in the form of Scientific Reference Books.
The Head of the Center for Research and Community Service (P3M) Politani Kupang, Krisna Setiawan, SP., M.Sc as the organizer of the National Seminar explained that the National Seminar is held regularly every year with the hope that every lecturer can publish the results of their research. The seminar is also a place to meet and share research results and other matters involving universities from within and outside the country.
"Here they inform the public, besides that they also involve DUDI/DUDIKA to produce local products that can be commercialized. We have produced a lot of research that can be used by the community and also makes it easier for the government to take policies related to agricultural development and other developments," he explained.
The National Seminar was attended not only from both lecturers and students of Politani Kupang but also from other universities such as Brawijaya University, Timor University, Defense University of the Republic of Indonesia, Arta Wacana Christian University, Bogor Agricultural Institute and UPT Lab.
